Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure said the incident left him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
